Zestiu80 – Games Creation Area for 8 bits omputers organized by AAMSX
On July 13rd and 14th, from 9 AM on Saturday to 5:00 PM on Sunday, AAMSX will be organizing a Zestiu80 area at LanParty Castellbisbal. A space to learn how to make games for MSX and other 8bit computers.
It is an intensive 32 hours workshop area, 2 days nonstop within the Castellbisbal lanparty. The area will have MSX computer video games tutors and creators. But Zestiu80 is open to teaching how to make video games with any computer from the 80s. Do you know how to make them? Do you want to share your knowledge? Come with us! Contact info@thepetsmode.com.
How to sign up?
Follow the usual protocol to register for the Castellbisbal lanparty. Register here and add to your nickname _z80 so we know you want to be in Zestiu80 area. Limited places. Price 3€.
If you are a student of computer science, video games creative, An 8 bits passionate, A pixelart lover, ... Come to Zestiu80! It is necessary that you bring a PC or MAC compatible computer to be able to develop and design your own game. AAMSX will lend you the MSX computers and respective peripherals.
What will be done?
We will advance throught mini talks about different parts necessary to understand how to make video games on 8-bit computers. They will be divided in 6 theme talks that we will be doing throught the lanparty. In the area, you will have information, documentation, dossiers, basic code, access to graphic programs, musical sequencers to make your creations and put into practice everything you learn. Also some special guests-experts will be there to help you.
This is the order of the talks and themes:
- Know the machine and its capabilities. Motivation of each one to guide what we will learn.
- Introduction to the Assembler language for Z80. Presentation of game creation tools and ROMs using PC / MAC computers.
- Video modes. Paint graphics. Pixelart.
- Controlling keyboard and joystick.
- Chiptune. The chip that makes music. Programs to create and play musiccomputer and sound effects.
- Extra: Advanced techniques of game creation. Level maps, intelligences, algorithms, ...
