ル(RU)- JAPAN 2026 marks a new chapter for Japanese technology and digital culture

ル(RU)- JAPAN 2026 builds on the events held in 2023 and 2024, launching a new chapter dedicated to exploring the influence of Japanese technology on home computing, video games and digital culture. Open to all audiences, the conference will showcase the legacy of Japanese computer systems from the 1980s and 1990s, their impact on several generations of users and creators, and the way they continue to inspire both the retro scene and contemporary development.

A highlight of the programme is Japanese developer Toshinari Oka, who was part of Konami's golden MSX era and contributed to landmark titles including Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Akumajō Dracula, Gradius 2, The Maze of Galious, King's Valley 2 and Shalom.

The event will also feature José Manuel Pazos, Carme Mangiron, María Lozano "Maiku", Pol Roca Murillo and Andrés de Pedro, renowned for their work in game development, localization, translation and the preservation of Japanese computing and video game history.

ル(RU)- JAPAN 2026 will take place on October 3rd, 2026 at the UOC Campus Barcelona (22@).
